Shannon Murphy - oRCHARD Lead Teacher

Originally from the Central Valley of California, Shannon (they/them) settled in the PNW over twenty years ago and calls Seattle home. Shannon discovered their calling with Waldorf Education in 2006 and completed their teacher training in 2011 at Sound Circle Center. Since then, they have taught grades 1-8, handwork and science classes in Waldorf schools across Washington and Vermont. Post-pandemic, they moved into the early childhood realm, earning their Early Childhood Education State Certification and working as an assistant director of a play-based daycare in Bellevue. They bring a deep understanding of child development, Waldorf pedagogy, and institutional organization to Orchard. At home, Shannon is a parent to a wonderful, capable teenager and has two tiny dogs and a house-trained bunny. They love to cook, travel and swim in the sea year-round.
