"Fremont Community School encourages interaction with other children and fosters respect for others and the natural world."

Morning Preschool, September through May, 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Our day begins each morning with a circle of song which includes movement and verse that reflect our seasonal themes and projects, then free play inside and outside, followed by snack. The children spend at least two hours a day in the attached, fully enclosed yard which provides ample room to run, climb, dig, and move their energetic bodies. The children also participate in the care of the school's animals: Daisy, our pig, and a variety of chickens. Lunch marks the end of our day.

September 2015 Update:  Oliver, our dear pig since 2010, outgrew his loving home at Fremont Community School.
We found a perfect home for him on the Key Peninsula where he
enjoys country life with his new pig friend named Blossom.  We all miss Oliver and his antics but we now have a precious new pig, Daisy.  Our children are helping us raise Daisy and teaching her a few tricks as well!

Our home, which we fondly call "Casa De Colores," is an ideal haven for curious young minds to play and imagine. The classroom environment promotes creative play with readily available art supplies, natural wood blocks, puppets, dress-up clothes and trestles. Every day, the school offers a warm organic whole-grain snack and an organic, vegetarian lunch for all children.

Our morning program also includes a Pre-Kindergarten program which serves as the first year of a two-year transitional phase for the Pre-Kindergarten-aged child (ages 4 1/2 through 5).  Children born in the summer and autumn greatly benefit from an extra year in Pre-Kindergarten.  Although all of our children (ages 2 1/2 through 5) interact with one another throughout a majority of the day's activities, children in the Pre-Kindergarten program do spend a portion of the morning focusing on special activities geared towards their specific age level.

In addition, Fremont Community School holds a series of festivals that celebrate the seasons, give rhythm to the year, and bring us together as a community by including family and friends. These include: a Harvest Festival in September, a trip to the Pumpkin Patch in October, a Lantern Walk in November, a Winter Garden in December, a May Day Picnic with dancing around the Maypole, and a Jump the Log "rite of passage" at the end of the school year in May.

Afternoon Care, September through May, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

FCS also offers an afternoon child care program during the school year. This is an hourly program that uses the same facilities and philosophies as the morning program, but is hourly child care, not a preschool with a curriculum.

NOTE: Children are legally only allowed to be at FCS for a maximum of four hours per day. We have a close business relationship with Tara’s Tots, a similar program next door which also offers an afternoon program. If a child attends FCS in the morning and needs full day care, they are taken to Tara’s Tots for the afternoon. They are welcome to attend the FCS afternoon program on days they do not attend the FCS morning program. The afternoon program is also open to children who are not enrolled in the morning program. Please contact Tara’s Tots directly for their enrollment information.

Summer Childcare, June through August (Ages 2 1/2 to 5)

Fremont Community School offers a "Summer Freedom" program, an incredibly flexible childcare program that focuses on art, creativity and free play for children ages 2 1/2 through 5.

Summer Art Camps, June through August (Ages 4 to 10)

FCS also offers creative art camps for children 4-10 years old. These are week long camps, Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  The tuition is $275 per week. Please note that if you need your child to attend the afternoon Summer Freedom program on the same day your child attends an art camp, they will need to go to Tara's Tots for their afternoon program. This is because of the 4 hours per day rule.

Summer Nature Camps, June through August (Ages 4 to 10)

FCS also offers nature camps for children 4-10 years old. These are week long camps, Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  The tuition is $250 per week. Please note that if you need your child to attend the afternoon Summer Freedom program on the same day your child attends an art camp, they will need to go to Tara's Tots for their afternoon program. This is because of the 4 hours per day rule.
